Overview: Emphasizing cross-sector and cross-disciplinary collaborations, the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) supports innovative research worldwide to accelerate progress towards a cure. Expanding on this commitment, a new and unique program will facilitate public-private collaborations to advance melanoma research with a high potential for clinical impact. Under the Academic-Industrial Partnership Awards mechanism, MRA and an industry partner will jointly support academic research and fast-forward the clinical translation of promising new agents to benefit patients, while maintaining rigorous scientific review and oversight. This novel approach should be of interest to other organizations seeking to catalyze synergistic cross-sector interactions in biomedical research.
