Overview: The CTSA Pharmaceutical Assets Portal and the Center for World Health and Medicine aim to create the Discontinued Clinical Compound Library (DCCL). This library will be comprised of the compounds discontinued in development during late preclinical or early clinical stages. In part, this library will contain those chemistries that have now reached their patent expiration terms and therefore no longer of strategic value to the parent company. The DCCL will be distributed to academic/nonprofit entities for drug repositioning studies. This research will undoubtedly result in an increased number of approved drugs for new indications and considerable public benefit.
