Overview: Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) biomarkers may be useful in aiding early detection of Alzheimer's and improving diagnostic accuracy, identifying and monitoring effects of drugs in clinical trials, and understanding molecular changes leading to Alzheimer's. The two-part quality control program began by establishing consistent methods for performing lumbar punctures required to collect CSF and consistent methods for collecting and processing CSF. The second part compares biomarker measurements among participating labs, which receive identical samples.
