Overview: Scientific discoveries by Seaside Therapeutics' co-founder, HHMI Investigator and MIT Professor Mark Bear, identified a molecular pathway that is dysregulated in fragile X syndrome. Merck & Co., Inc. scientists discovered selective, potent candidate drugs and provided drug development and scientific expertise through a license agreement between Merck & Co., Inc. and Seaside Therapeutics. NIMH, NICHD, NINDS, FRAXA, and Autism Speaks provided funding and scientific expertise through a cooperative agreement to advance the lead drug into Phase 1 trials. Our collaborative partnership provides a compelling opportunity to treat symptoms associated with fragile X syndrome, autism, and other developmental disorders.
