Overview: LaunchPad is a translational research fund established to identify and seed fund innovative projects that have high potential for translational outcomes (creation of licensable IP, NewCo formation, clinical testing). Key stakeholders in research translation (namely science, medicine, patient advocates, industry/regulatory/prod. dev., investors, entrepreneurs, and technology transfer) partner on the advisory board, which oversees the funding and leverages knowledge networks during project maturation. Milestone-driven projects report quarterly and funding is dependent on progress. Processes are adapted from the UVA Coulter Translational Research Partnership. Metrics and lessons-learned will be reviewed. Mechanisms for partnering and involvement will be discussed.
