As appreciation for the importance and challenges of translational research grows, a handful of unique technical, financial and social disruptions are helping to pave the way for progress.  As the National Institutes of Health looks forward across the chasm, leveraging programs such as Cures Acceleration Network, Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases, the Clinical Research Center and the Clinical and Translational Science Awards, to quickly and effectively act on translational research opportunities, what can/should industry be doing to meet them in the middle? How are new funding and research models blowing up the system, and what can be done to scale/replicate them?
