The Innovator Presentation track featured 31 novel research approaches that can move a field of research forward. Each 25-minute presentation was a tangible case study on an innovative, cross-sector approach to medical research, development, funding and/or partnering.

About the Application Process

The application process to vie for one of up to 30 innovator presentation slots closed on October 15. The below application and evaluation criteria are the basis for review by an external advisory committee. Applicants were notified November 5, 2010 whether or not to prepare to present. FasterCures will provide presenting organizations with a suggested template to use as a reference for presentation content and flow.

Application Criteria:
  • Presenting organizations may include nonprofit foundations, pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies, research institutes, universities, government agencies, investors and private philanthropists

  • Presenters must be engaged in, or in the process of launching, a collaborative project/initiative/process for accelerating the development and/or commercialization of new medical solutions (Please indicate existing partners through your applicant questionnaire)

  • Any partner may apply, but FasterCures will only review one application per partnership Please note, selected initiatives/partnerships will be limited to no more than two presenters each
Evaluation Criteria:
  • Degree to which initiative/partnership demonstrates ability (or potential) to transform the biomedical research and development enterprise
  • Degree to which initiative/partnership is scalable across diseases and sectors
  • Degree to which novel R&D processes and strategies are employed
  • Clarity of planning and measurement strategy (e.g., defined milestones, timelines for implementation, metrics for success)
  • Level of demonstrated impact against mission and objectives
