Joan Flax
Board of Advisors, California Pizza Kitchen


Joan Flax has an MBA and an undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Wisconsin.  She was the founder and CEO of J. Gillette and Associates Advertising Agency.  Upon leaving Wisconsin and moving to Beverly Hills she became Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1987.  She has served on Fred Hayman’s Fragrance Panel and is a member of Fashion Group International, a member of The Costume Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and a member of SHARE, an organization dedicated to funding charities for children who are abused, developmentally disabled and mentally retarded.  Flax has served on the Board of Blue Ribbon at the Music Center and is presently a member of the Board of Trustees for the House Ear Institute (HEI), a private, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing hearing science through research and education. She serves on the advisory board for FasterCures and she is a Director on the California Pizza Kitchen Foundation Board of Advisors.
