Time=Lives Talk: When the Personal and Professional Collide

Tuesday, November 14, 2017
9:15 AM - 9:30 AM
Intercontinental Ballroom B & C

When biomedical researchers like Reg Kelly confront a major disease such as dementia in their personal lives, they quickly recognize that effective cures for their loved ones require collaboration across conventional fields such as immunology, neurology, and stem cell biology. Although academic health centers have the range of knowledge needed for cures, they often lack the infrastructure to foster the needed collaborations. Reg will describe one effort to foster such infrastructure using a "breadboard concept" and how they have applied it to help discover therapies that delay cognitive loss due to aging and dementia.
